Pineapple express

"Your stupidity amazes me..." That's one of the deepest lines this comedy film has, which is full of car chases, "funny" violence (the scene of the fork is hilarious) and a lot of stupidity. Of course it's not a movie of great quality, but it achieves it's purpose, making you sit and laugh as idiot while you watch the two main characters (who are stoned 100% of the time) being chased by some very smart gang members.
Cheers for stupidity and for this kind of films!
Me, and Rotten Tomatoes recommend it!
B.F.F.F.! (Best Fu***ing Friendship Forever!, other great quote of the film)

Bergen International Film Festival 2008

It happens that Norway is not just a place to study, at least not for me. Besides the Oslo Film Festival, I also went to the BIFF 2008.
Unfortunately I only had the opportunity to go on the frist and last day. Both of the movie sthat I saw were in my list for a long time.
The first one is really known among the cinema community, as it belongs to the Cohen brothers. "Burn After Reading" was an hilariant movie that I presented here a few months ago. But here it is again:

The actors were really good, specially the fabulous John Malkovich. I totally recomend it!

The second one was "Son of Rambow", a movie from the director
Garth Jennings.

It was about a relationship between two little boys who decided to make a shortfilm about the son of Rambo.

With a very good guide, "Son of Rambow" is not just a film for children, as it can also have a huge impact on adults.

You can find more information about BIFF 2008 on its official website.

Red Carpet

I am sorry for the late but check it out!!!

Film fra Sør

Films from the South

In our stay in Oslo we had the opportunity to check what was going on in Norway's capital city concerning films and there was a festival called "Films from the South", presenting films from Latin America, Africa and Asia. The festival is held every year since 1991 on different cinemas of Oslo. Al tough the selection of the films seems good, we were not very lucky with our choice. The film we saw was "This is Chaos" or "Heya Fawda"(Egypt, 2007) watch the trailer here. The film is about a corrupt policeman who falls in love with a girl who doesn't like him, and through almost 2 hours we see how "Hatem" suffers from this uncorresponded love, with one of the worst acting performances I have seen in my entire life. The acting is so bad that it seemed funny to most of the audience. In a few words, the film can be seen as the perfect recepie of how to ruin a movie: bad script, terrible actors, horrible direction. Even tough, it's always good to take risks like this, as you never know when a non-commercial movie will be nice until you see it.
Soon we'll have Bergen International Film Festival in town, and all the best of it here in the blog...
Cheers!
